If you’re planning a family holiday to Fiji with tiny humans in tow, finding a resort that balances genuine relaxation for parents with endless fun for kids can feel like a mammoth task. We spent an unforgettable week at the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island with our 3-year-old and 10-month-old baby—and it completely blew our expectations out of the water.
From stress-free pram access to poolside hot chips, swim-up cocktails, and the friendliest staff on the planet, here is our honest review of why the Radisson Blu is an absolute paradise for families traveling with babies and toddlers.
Stress-Free Room Setup & Pram Accessibility
One of the biggest wins of our stay happened before we even opened the door to our room. We stayed on the second level, tucked just behind the main pool area. This turned out to be the absolute sweet spot: we were close enough to walk everywhere in seconds, but set back far enough that we didn’t catch any of the daytime pool noise when the baby needed to nap.
Even better? The resort design meant we could easily walk straight from reception to our room without having to dismantle or fold up the pram once. Anyone traveling with a 10-month-old knows what a game-changer that is!
Room Layout & Sleeping Arrangements
The room size was ideal for a family of four:
- Master Setup: A comfortable King bed for us.
- For the 3-Year-Old: A roll-out single bed that worked perfectly.
- For the Baby: We brought our own travel cot from home (purely because I like knowing where our cot has been and knew she’d sleep well in a familiar space), though the resort does offer cots if you prefer to travel lighter.
The bathroom off the main bedroom was super roomy, with a nice big shower which made rinising two sandy tired kids an absolute breeze.
Family Travel Tip: If you’re traveling with a larger crew, Radisson Blu is amazingly flexible. They offer spacious two-bedroom apartments and interconnected options that can join two one-bedroom apartments together for larger family groups.
Kids Are Happily Seen & Heard
As a parent, there is nothing worse than feeling on edge in a resort because you’re worried your toddler might be too loud or your baby might fuss.
At the Radisson Blu, kids are genuinely welcomed with open arms. I never once felt self-conscious at the pool or restaurants. The Fijian staff are famously beautiful, warm, and attentive, making our entire family feel so cherished from the moment we arrived.

A Bluey-Approved Highlight!
Every single morning on our walk to breakfast, my 3-year-old would stop at the resort’s famous coconut weather prediction clock. Being a massive Bluey fan, she’d give it a proud “Boom-diddy-boom!” before heading in to eat. It was the simple, magical moments like that which made the trip so special for her.
Pool Days, Sandy Edges & Swim-Up Happy Hour
We spent the vast majority of our trip parked at the resort’s massive lagoon-style pool system, and it is tailored brilliantly for different age groups:
- For the Baby (10 Months): The pool features a zero-depth, sandy edge where she could sit safely in the shallow water, splash, and play in the sand to her heart’s content.
- For the 3-Year-Old: She could swim safely in the surrounding shallow areas without us feeling like we were constantly struggling to keep her afloat.
- Shade & Snacks: There was plenty of good shade when we needed a break from the tropical sun. We regularly ordered plates of hot chips poolside, enjoyed delicious cocktails, and made daily trips to the resort’s ice cream shop after dinner.
- Adult Time at Happy Hour: As soon as happy hour hits, the lagoon pool comes alive as adults make a beeline for the swim-up bar for a well-deserved drink.
Kids’ Club vs. Fiji Nanny Service
While the resort has a fantastic, action-packed Kids’ Club, we actually opted not to use it during this trip. Because our girls were so young (10 months and 3 years), they required a dedicated 1-on-1 nanny. Ultimately, we realized that if we hired a nanny, we’d just end up hanging out by the pool anyway—and all our 3-year-old wanted to do was swim!
Our 10-month-old was super content napping and playing poolside in the shade (I just kept pre-filled formula bottles on hand for easy feeding when she got hungry).
That said, we saw the Kids’ Club activities running throughout the day and they looked like incredible fun! It’s easy to see how older kids would thrive there, giving parents a completely guilt-free pass to book a poolside massage, hit the gym, or enjoy a long, quiet lunch at one of the award-winning restaurants.
The Bula Bus & Exploring Denarau Island
Hands down, one of the biggest highlights of our trip was the Bula Bus. We rode it every single day, and it truly made getting around the island an absolute joy.
The bus pulls up right out the front of reception with member of staff shouting a booming “BULA BUS!”, sending the kids into complete excitement as we hopped aboard. If a bus happened to be full, there was never any stress—you’re on Fiji time, and another one rolls up just a few minutes later!
Why Denarau Island is So Easy for Families
The whole Denarau setup makes a resort holiday ridiculously effortless:
- Bula Bus Passes: For around $8 FJD per adult (and completely free for kids), an unlimited day pass lets you hop on and off all day. You can use it to visit neighboring resorts, head to the Golf Club, or pop down to Port Denarau Marina. We grabbed our tickets at the Radisson’s onsite convience store.
- Port Denarau Marina: Just minutes away, the marina gives you quick access to a pharmacy, supermarket, bakery, boutique shopping, and gorgeous waterfront dining. It’s also where all the day trips out to the Mamanuca Islands depart.
- Resort Hopping on Foot: Denarau features immaculate, flat walking tracks connecting all the resorts along the shoreline. We loved taking walks to check out neighboring properties, stopping for a refreshing drink at the Sofitel’s Waitui Beach Club or indulging in a delicious meal at the Sheraton.
Final Thoughts: Would We Go Back?
In a heartbeat! The combination of seamless pram accessibility, ultra-friendly staff, incredible family pools, and the ease of the Bula Bus made this one of the most relaxing trips we’ve ever taken as a family.
